Our Founder Chimeren Peerbhai took part as an “Ideas Person” and product/project manager at Capital One’s “HackCancer” 24 Hour Hackathon. She devised the product concept inspired from her time caring for her mom and managed the 2nd place winning team to develop her idea into an Android app called Care & Share.
The app allowed supporters to chip in to send care packages of items curated by other patients to help symptoms after treatments. All the products are rated and reviewed by how they helped patients cope with side effects, so supporters would know what items to buy. Supporters can also share jokes, quotes, meaningful images and messages to cheer up patients along their journey, as they can see the patient’s upcoming appointments and their status of how they are feeling during the course of treatment, so they can be there when they need them most. The app also allowed cancer fighters can also track their medication and chemo appointments, and share updates in a safe environment.
We are still looking to collaborate with any charity who would like to utilize this free open source application, we just want to see it being used and helping those who could benefit, so please reach out if you have a good cause!
