Talk Description

On June 21st, our founder Chimeren Peerbhai will be a on a panel at London Tech Week at an event called Women in Technology. It will be an evening of talks to launch a new initiative #CodingAllowed – aimed at ensuring women are equipped with the correct knowledge and tools to break into the technology industry. The objective is to support socially responsible, equal and diverse global workforces to help increase the low 12 % information and communication technology roles within the UK. Of 100 female bachelor students, 12 graduate with as STEM major but only 3 continue to work in STEM fields 10 years after graduation.

This event offers an opportunity for women interested in a career in tech to meet a host of inspiring senior women in technology from a range of FTSE 100 organisations (such as our founder Chimeren) so they can ask questions, explore a variety of career options, seek advice, make connections.

WHEN: June 21, 2016

WHERE: London Tech Week

London Technology Week is a festival of live events taking place throughout the UK’s capital. It celebrates and cultivates London as a global powerhouse of tech innovation by connecting the entire ecosystem both within London and beyond. This week of face to face networking, discovery and learning creates an inclusive and sustainable growth environment for organisations and social enterprises of all shapes and sizes.

#CodingAllowed aims to contribute to the development of a future pipeline of talented technologists – and this must include women (as well as other underrepresented groups). It is committed to helping make a change in the way women view jobs in tech by helping to ensure they have the tools and knowledge to enter the industry.
